Cover History

1. Early Magazine Covers: The magazine covers usually just had a title and table of contents. For the cover picture it often looked like the cover of a book and didn't say what was inside. The covers of early magazines were fairly formal. The photo didn't show what was going to be inside but it sometimes did have a symbolic purpose. Later you would find cover lines on these magazines.

2. The Poster Cover: In this time you would find magazine covers that were drawn or painted. The illustrations where not only on the cover but also on the inside too. Also there would be a cover line telling what will appear inside of the magazine. The covers were usually very bold and caught attention and were more different than anything before.

3. Pictures Married to Type: Magazines had large titles with a portrait of someone. There were cover lines all over the magazine cover. The person that was showed on the cover was posed and placed in a certain way to show off the magazine. They would add different colors to cover lines to make it pop more. Eventually cover lines would take over.

4. In the Forest of Words: In the magazines the coverlines were as important than the coverpicture. Sometimes the coverlines would be bigger and more colorful than the actually title of the magazine. The photos placed on the cover of the magazine are more exciting and eye catching.

Photos of the year 2009

I picked this picture because I like the sky. I also really like how you see the bushes and right behind them are the buildings , I like this line between nature and downtown.Another thing , that is really cool is that it looks like the man on the bottom left is waterskiing barefoot pulled by his dog.The photographer used the Rule of Third because of the man with his dog in the bottom right part.

I pickked this picture because the photographer got a great shot of the guitarrist jumping.He also managed to get the drummer in the picture really good ,I think this is a really good photograph.

I also think the background is pretty interresting.

This picture shows a lot of energy.I chose it because you can see that everybody is having fun playing in the mud. I think the photographer tried to get the crowd in the picture so it makes it more interesting.

Ethics in Fashion Photography

1.They make the lips bigger , the neck longer ,the forehead bigger by moving the eyebrows a little bit down,they mess with the hair , they make her face look skinnier and they make skin a little bit darker

2. I do not think its ok to change someones face because it is not the real person when you finish messing with it and this disorts the perception of beauty.

3.I think that they are more ethically wrong to do this type of manipulation.

4.I think that if you just need to cover up the face some weres if u missed a spot of makeup or just change a little details. Some that you should not do is do not change the neck or change the eyes to make them better shaped or even mess with the skin color.

5.In fashion photography people try to get the perfect picture and they even work on it on photoshop just to make it look better, and a photojournalist is someone who takes pictures of things exactly the way they are.
Its just the difference between the words fashion and journalism.

6.In fashion they just want to sell their stuff and they dont care if they have to lie to people or even change a whole face to make people think they could look like that so this has no relation to reality.
In photojournalism photographers want to take pictures of the reality to inform people no matter if they like it or not.It is always the truth so the relation to reality is big.

My first print

1.a)The boy in front that is writing is in focus but the person in the back is not.
b)The person in the background is not in focus because I only tried to get a good focus on the boy.

2.a)I think the contrast is pretty good because you can even see the small things without a problem but the hand isn't that good because you cant tell the hand apart from the paper.

3.I just went close and I think that the subject fills the frame very good and you can see him writing.

4.No yellowing/spots.

5.No rings.

6.Everything at its right place :)
